Vineland, NJ – The Rotary Club of Vineland continues to add active and civically engaged members to its rolls. At its March 6, 2018 membership luncheon, held at the Ramada of Vineland, new member Alice Woods was installed. With approximately 80 members, the Vineland Club is the second largest in Rotary District 7640, which encompasses southern New Jersey.

Former club president Ed Duffy conducted the induction ceremony for Woods. She was sponsored for membership in the club by Sherry Soutiere.

Prior to the ceremony, Woods was introduced by Ken Dondero, the club president, who noted that Rotarians provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. As signified by the motto “Service Above Self,” Rotary’s main objective is service in both the workplace and the community.

“The manner in which Alice lives her life in faith and caring service to others makes her the ideal fit Vineland Rotary,” said Dondero. “Her life mission and Vineland Rotary’s Club mission are one in the same—‘Service Above Self’.”

Alice Woods is the Foundation and Alumni Director at Cumberland County College. Before that, she had a 13-year career with the United Way, including a stint as the Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Cumberland County from 2008 through 2015. She lives in Ocean City with her teenage daughter. She said of her new membership, “I always pray that God removes people from my life who tear others down, and adds people who build others up. I feel like I really got into a group with this Rotary Club that builds people up.”

Rotary is an international organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.
